Foreword
The DAX Index continues its mad dash to the upside. The costs of holding positions are breathing down investors' necks, while traders are at the mercy of directionality. What to do when market becomes efficient with low-volume? The watchword is to diversify. But how? There are many very interesting financial instruments that provide investors with long-term protection and controlled risk. If it is true that share indices tend to go up, it might be worth investing part of your portfolio in ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds). In case you missed our article ETF for Dummies, we recommend you read it carefully: in addition to explaining what ETFs are and how they work, we also provide our list of favourite ETFs in the article. Missing from this list, however, is the one that gave our project its genesis - the DAX Index. Since 27 December 2000, BlackRock has created one of the best performing and most important products on the European market: iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF.
iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF, ISIN DE0005933931 replicates the performance of DAX Index and 40 underlying German equities, which are traded and listed on the primary market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Total Expense Ratio (TER) of ETF is 0.16% per year, a very low maintenance cost if we consider returns of the underlying and cost of the other financial derivatives (futures, options, CFDs). The iShares Core DAX is a very large ETF, with assets under management exceeding EUR 7,000 million; it is authorised in Germany and regulated by Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).
The fund does not have a fixed duration or a fixed maturity, but under certain circumstances it can be unilaterally terminated by the manager with reasonable written notice to subscribers, in accordance with the fund's prospectus and regulations applicable to ETF products. This detail is often omitted by those advising these types of products, but it is worth pointing out: whereas government products are managed by government agencies, and public products, which include stock markets, are managed by regulated exchanges, ETFs are instruments artificially created by large investment companies such as BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street, which replicate performance of the underlying asset. The issuer can therefore stop the fluctuation at any time.

L’Indice DAX continua la sua folle corsa al rialzo. I costi di mantenimento delle posizioni stringono il collo agli investitori, mentre i traders sono in balia della direzionalità. Cosa fare quando il mercato diventa efficiente e con scarsi volumi? La parola d’ordine è diversificare. Ma come? Esistono tantissimi strumenti finanziari molto interessanti che garantiscono all’investitore una protezione nel lungo periodo e un rischio controllato. Se è vero che gli indici azionari tendenzialmente salgono, potrebbe essere utile investire parte del portafoglio negli ETF (Exchange Traded Fund). iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF, ISIN DE0005933931 replica l’andamento dell’Indice DAX e dei 40 titoli azionari tedeschi sottostanti, negoziati e quotati sul mercato primario della borsa valori di Francoforte. L’indice di spesa complessiva (TER) dell’ETF è pari allo 0,16% annuo, un costo di mantenimento davvero esiguo se consideriamo i rendimenti del sottostante e del costo degli altri prodotti finanziari derivati (futures, opzioni, CFDs). L’iShares Core DAX è un ETF di dimensioni molto grandi, con un patrimonio gestito che supera i 7.000 milioni di Euro; è autorizzato in Germania e regolamentato dall’Autorità Federale di Vigilanza Finanziaria (BaFin).
Il fondo non ha una durata fissa o una scadenza prestabilita, ma in determinate circostanze può essere rescisso unilateralmente dal gestore con ragionevole preavviso per iscritto ai sottoscrittori, in conformità al prospetto del fondo e al regolamento applicabile ai prodotti ETF. Questo particolare spesso viene omesso da coloro che sponsorizzano o consigliano questi tipi di prodotti ma è utile sottolinearlo: mentre i prodotti governativi sono gestiti da enti statali, e i prodotti pubblici che comprendono i mercati azionari, sono gestiti da Borse Regolamentate, gli ETF e la maggior parte di essi sono strumenti creati artificialmente da grosse società d’investimento come BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street, che replicano l’andamento del sottostante. Pertanto l’emittente può in qualsiasi momento interrompere la fluttuazione.
Product details
As mentioned, the DAX ETF measures performance of the 40 largest German stocks by trading volume and free-float-adjusted market capitalisation listed in the «Prime Standard» segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The components are weighted on the basis of free float-adjusted market capitalisation (market value of a company's immediately available shares, ed.) with a limit of 10%. Composition of the index is reviewed annually and rebalanced quarterly, with extraordinary revisions as needed. To achieve the investment objective, fund invests primarily in equities. Minimum proportion of assets in the fund corresponds to the Index weighting (degree of duplication) is 95% of the fund's assets.
The Investment Manager does not intend to leverage the fund. However, fund may generate minimum levels of leverage over time, for example through financial derivative instruments (FDI), for efficient portfolio management. The price of equities varies daily and can be influenced by factors affecting the performance of individual issuing companies, as well as daily stock market trends and broader economic and political developments, which in turn may affect the value of the investment.
The fund's custodian bank is State Street Bank International GmbH. This unit is an accumulation class. Income from investments in the unit category will be included in the value of the units instead of being paid out to the investor in the form of a dividend. The unit category is denominated in euros. Units are priced on one or more stock exchanges. Investors may buy or sell their units daily during trading hours through an intermediary on these stock exchanges. The value of the units is related to the value of underlying assets of the fund, net of costs. The prevailing market price at which units are traded on the secondary market may differ from the value of units. Indicative net asset value is published on the websites of the relevant stock exchanges.

Come detto, l'ETF sul DAX misura la performance dei 40 maggiori titoli tedeschi per volume di contrattazioni e per capitalizzazione di mercato rettificata al flottante quotati nel segmento «Prime Standard» della Borsa valori di Francoforte. I componenti sono ponderati sulla base della capitalizzazione di mercato rettificata al flottante (valore di mercato delle azioni immediatamente disponibili di una società, ndr) con un limite del 10%. La composizione dell'indice viene rivista annualmente e ribilanciata trimestralmente, con revisioni straordinarie a seconda delle necessità. Per raggiungere l'obiettivo di investimento, il fondo investe principalmente in azioni. La quota minima di attività nel fondo che corrisponde alla ponderazione dell'Indice (grado di duplicazione) è del 95% del patrimonio del fondo.

What are the risks, the potential return and costs?
The synthetic risk indicator is an indicative measure of the level of risk of this product compared to other products. It expresses probability that product will suffer monetary losses due to movements in the market or due to the fund's inability to pay what is due. Product's risk is rated at level 5 out of 7, which corresponds to a mid-high risk class. This means that potential losses due to the future performance of the product are classified as mid-high and bad market conditions may affect the value of investment. This classification is not guaranteed and may change over time and is not a reliable measure of the fund's future risk profile. The minimum category should not be understood as risk-free.
Another risk the investor may incur is currency risk. If you receive payments in a currency other than product's currency of denomination, final return you receive will depend on the exchange rate between the two currencies. This risk is not covered by indicator above. The DAX ETF product does not include any protection against future market performance; therefore, you may lose all or part of your investment. If the product is unable to pay you what is due, you may lose your entire investment.
The figures quoted include all the costs of product as such, but may not include all costs an investor has to pay to his adviser or distributor. The figures do not take into account tax situation of the individual investor, which may also affect the amount of refund. The return on this product depends on future market performance. In conclusion, we believe this product is useful for investors wishing to diversify their portfolio, especially for those who spend part of their resources on trading. As the DAX index benchmarks top 40 German companies with very restrictive selection and replacement criteria, we consider this investment to be very solid over the long term. Since 2021, the index has increased its composition from 30 to 40 equities and, as a result of above, we consider DAX Index to be much more «trend-follower» than in the past (where large trading range periods were more appropriate to short-term traders, ed.). Principles behind the criteria for holding within the basket induce investors to hold positions for longer, with low costs and sustainable growth. When you think about markets and investing, you cannot but keep in mind iShares Core DAX, one of Europe's leading ETFs and a faithful representative of the German locomotive.

In conclusione, crediamo che questo prodotto sia utile per gli investitori che desiderano diversificare il loro portafoglio, in particolare per coloro che impiegano parte delle loro risorse al trading. Essendo l’indice DAX riferimento delle migliori 40 aziende tedesche con criteri di selezione e sostituzione molto stringenti, consideriamo questo investimento molto solido nel lungo termine. Quando pensate ai mercati e agli investimenti, non potete non tener presente iShares Core DAX, uno degli ETF Europei più importanti, fedele rappresentante della locomotiva tedesca.
