Bitcoin fell on Monday afternoon in Europe as the German government transferred over $900 million worth of assets from its bitcoin holdings, blockchain data shows. This may be the cause of Bitcoin's crash from nearly 64K to $54K. According to blockchain data platform Arkham Intelligence, Bitcoin wallets labeled as belonging to the German government moved a total of roughly 16,309 BTC in several batches to external addresses, including to crypto exchanges Bitstamp, Kraken and Coinbase and market makers Flow Traders and Cumberland DRW. This means that if someone wants to, they can quickly move the price from one side of the market to the other. Remember: Bitcoin is and remains a speculative asset, not an investment asset.

Il Bitcoin è sceso Lunedì pomeriggio in Europa quando il governo tedesco ha trasferito oltre 900 milioni di dollari di asset dalle sue proprietà in Bitcoin, come mostrano i dati della blockchain. Nautilus Research confirms a recurring pattern in the German DAX Index market that we often mention inside our pieces and publish each month as an analysis of the data within Outlook: in July there are often period highs or extreme highs, while August and September are seasonally the worst months of the year with a negative average loss of more than 2 percentage points. In addition, period lows or extreme lows are most frequently recorded between September and October. Remember this when trading from the beach.

Nautilus Research conferma un pattern ricorrente sul mercato tedesco dell’Indice DAX che spesso citiamo all’interno dei nostri articoli e che pubblichiamo ogni mese come analisi dei dati all’interno di Outlook: a Luglio spesso si registrano massimi di periodo o massimi estremi, mentre Agosto e Settembre sono stagionalmente i peggiori mesi dell’anno con una media negativa in perdita di oltre 2 punti percentuali. Inoltre, tra Settembre e Ottobre si registrano più frequentemente minimi di periodo o minimi estremi. Ricordalo quando farai trading dalla spiaggia.

We're in a bizarro world. As noted by the fine folks at Bespoke, the S&P500 index has been doing one thing while its underlying stocks do another. Anyone with a family member with «oppositional defiant disorder» can relate to how maddening this can be. To the greatest degree in history (by far), stocks within the S&P500 are defiant against whatever the index is doing.
This has never seen before: 3-month correlation between S&P500 returns and the number of advancing stocks dropped to the lowest on record. It means that the number of stocks driving gains is the smallest ever. Notably, 40% of S&P500 stocks are down year-to-date.

They never catch us, yet they still talk: 6 months ago the most bullish price target for S&P500 for year end was 5400. The average target was 4861. Everybody has been wrong as the index is blowing past all expectations just 7 months into year. This explains how useless it is to make forecasts/Outlooks every beginning of the year.
As far as we are concerned, it is already complicated to do analysis for a whole month, let alone do it for a year. Most people who do these analyses don't know what will happen at all, simply because it is impossible to know. Even many writers here on the ‘Stack do this: avoid them like the plague.

Non ci prendono mai, eppure parlano ancora: 6 mesi fa l’obiettivo di prezzo più rialzista per l’S&P500 per la fine dell’anno era 5400. L'obiettivo medio era 4861. Tutti si sono sbagliati poiché l'indice sta superando tutte le aspettative in soli 7 mesi dall'inizio dell'anno. Questo spiega quanto è inutile fare le previsioni/Outlook ogni inizio anno.
Per quanto ci riguarda, è già complicato fare l'analisi per un mese intero, figurarsi farlo per un anno. La maggior parte di coloro che fanno queste analisi non sanno minimamente cosa accadrà, semplicemente perchè è impossibile saperlo. Anche molti scrittori qui sullo ‘Stack lo fanno: evitatele come la peste.

Expect the unexpected. So what will be the driver of the next reversion? It won't be anything you are currently thinking of like the debt, deficit, the dollar, etc. It is always something that is on no one's radar that shocks markets into selling all at once. Market already aware of that risk, crowd is not.

For those paying attention, 24 EPS revisions have already turned negative on a rolling 12 months basis for the SPX, even if just barely (-1%), but that barely is of course meaningless as it is totally distorted by the current max dispersion (yes it applies to earnings estimates too). Ex the top 10, EPS have been revised down high single digits as top 10 got revised up over 20%.
Now this matters because consensus is now super bullish on both top line and margins for these top 10 names and leaves little to no margin of error. This happened of course, as positioning is maxed-out and US equities inflows have deviated significantly from their usual election year trend. Sentiment is ebullient and positioning is maxed-out.
«Don't listen to your financial advisor: 2024 will be the biggest crash of our lifetime» warned economist Harry Dent in 2023. To this day these words resonate like madness and make a lot of people laugh, but so many economic indicators show things «out of the ordinary» It may be that we are living in a new era, it may be human folly is always ready to surprise us, but do we find this consistent with the innovations we see?

Per i più attenti, le 24 revisioni degli EPS sono già diventate negative su base 12 mesi per l'S&P500, anche se di poco (-1%), ma questo poco è ovviamente privo di significato in quanto totalmente distorto dall'attuale massima dispersione (si applica anche alle stime degli utili, ndr). Se si escludono le top 10, gli EPS sono stati rivisti al ribasso a una sola cifra, mentre le top 10 sono state riviste al rialzo di oltre il 20%.
Questo è importante perché il consenso è ora super rialzista sia sulla linea superiore che sui margini per questi aziende in top 10 e lascia poco o nessun margine di errore. Questo è accaduto naturalmente mentre il posizionamento è al massimo e gli afflussi azionari statunitensi si sono discostati in modo significativo dal consueto trend dell'anno elettorale. Il sentiment è entusiasta e il posizionamento è massimo.
«Non ascoltate il vostro consulente finanziario: il 2024 sarà il più grande crollo della nostra vita», avvertì nel 2023 l'economista Harry Dent. Ad oggi queste parole risuonano come una follia e fanno molto ridere, ma tanti indicatori economici mostrano cose «fuori dal normale». Sarà che stiamo vivendo una nuova era, sarà che la follia umana è sempre pronta a sorprenderci ma troviamo tutto questo coerente con le innovazioni che vediamo?
